Police believe the man who robbed the Rite-Aid pharmacy in the 4500 block of S. Regal Saturday evening may be the same person responsible for an August 24 robbery at a South Hill ShopKo pharmacy. On Saturday around 5:40 p.m. the man walked into the Rite-Aid and handed the pharmacist a note demanding prescription drugs. He was able to get away with an unknown amount of medication.>>

SPOKANE, Wash. - After receiving anonymous tips, Spokane Police arrested two men suspected of robbing South Hill pharmacies of the popular painkiller Oxycontin.

Washington 'a phenomenon' for pharmacy robberies
Following numerous Walgreens robberies in which the popular painkiller Oxycontin was targeted, the pharmacy has installed time-lock security cabinets in all of its pharmacies across Washington State.

Aaron Weyreauch, 27 and Dustin Rockstrom, 26, were arrested Tuesday night near 29th and Grand.

Police say the pair stole the drugs intending to sell them.

The most recent pharmacy robbery occurred in at the Rite-Aid in the 4500 block of S. Regal on September 5.

Around 5:40 p.m. the suspect walked into the Rite-Aid and handed the pharmacist a note demanding prescription drugs. He was able to get away with an unknown amount.

Police say another robbery at the ShopKo in the 4500 block of S. Regal in August occurred the same way with the suspect handing the pharmacist a note before leaving the scene with an unknown amount of prescription drugs.
