Homemade breakfast quickly turns into fast-moving grease fire

SPOKANE, Wash.- Fire crews at the scene of a mobile home fire in the 4900 block of north Florida say the homeowner did receive non-life-threatening injuries, but was able to make it out of her mobile home safely.

The fire started about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning when the homeowner was cooking breakfast and grease spilled out of a frying pan. The grease erupted into flames and quickly spread. The homeowner got out of her home then called 911.

Fire crews say by the time they arrived, the home had already sustained significant damage. They say grease fires can double in size every minute. However, the fire was contained relatively quickly.

Right now there is no word on damages, but the homeowner will receive aid from the Red Cross.
