Woman robbed at gunpoint in Spokane Valley

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash.- Spokane Valley Police Officers say a woman was robbed at gunpoint on the sidewalk outside her apartment in Spokane Valley. It happened just after midnight Friday morning.

According to the victim, a black man approached her in the 12700 block of east Shannon Ave. and produced a handgun. He then pointed the handgun at the victim and demanded her purse and cell phone. When she gave them to the suspect, he took off on foot.

The victim immediately then went to her apartment and called 911. Officers set up a containment in the area, blocking off traffic and using a K9 Unit to attempt to track the suspect. Their efforts to find that suspect were not successful and he remains on the loose right now.

The case will now be forwarded to Spokane Valley Detectives who will follow up on leads later Friday.

The suspect is described as a black man in his early 20's, about 6'2" with a thin build. According to the victim, he was wearing a black baseball cap with gold trim and black baggy jeans.

If you have any information about this incident, you're being asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233 or, because the suspect is armed and could be dangerous, call 911.
