The suspect, described as about 5'8" was caught on camera leaving the bathroom with the elderly woman's purse

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Police are asking for your help locating a woman who they believe robbed a 76-year-old woman of $1,000 when she snatched her purse from a Fred Meyer restroom.

The elderly woman went to the restroom and as she was at the sink, she allowed the bag to hang from the handle of the walker she uses to get around.

The suspect came up behind her, grabbed her bag and ran from the restroom. The woman tried to follow her as quickly as she could but the suspect was already out of sight.

Apart from losing the $1,000 she had just got from the bank, the woman is fearful that her identity may be stolen.

The robbery occurred on September 17 at the Fred Meyer in the 15000 block of E. Sprague between 6:30 and 7 p.m.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
