Monday morning, the school held a special assembly for only students and faculty. Swank's football teammates also got together to sign his jersey and helmet, many leaving messages of "I'll miss you" and "you fought the good fight.">>

    SPOKANE, Wash.- A Sacred Heart Medical Center spokesperson says Drew Swank, a junior football player from Valley Christian High School, has died. Drew was seriously injured during the school's game Friday night in Washtucna. According to Assistant Coach Mike Heden, Drew, a defensive back, took a hard hit during the game. Drew's family issued a statement regarding Drew's accident on Friday night.>>

SPOKANE, Wash. - Valley Christian School postponed its football game this week after one of its players died following a blow to the head in a Friday night game.

Andrew Swank, 17, died late Sunday following a head injury suffered when he was blocked and hit the ground during an eight-man football game on the field of defending state champion LaCrosse-Washtucna on Friday.

The Panthers have postponed this week's scheduled game against St. John-Endicott. Players met Monday afternoon to discuss the future of their season.

A benefit dinner is planned for Tuesday, October 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. for the Swank family.

The dinner will either be held at the Washtucna School or at the Grange Hall.

    SPOKANE, Wash. - Jim Martin Trucking LLC out of Hayden, Idaho confirmed with KHQ the driver of the semi-truck involved in Wednesday's crash on I-90 in downtown Spokane is okay and is cooperating with Troopers. The driver, who was hauling crushed cars, says he was cut off by another car, which he says started the chain reaction that caused the crash.

    MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Police in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina say a 12-year-old-boy is alive after being trapped underwater for nine minutes. A video obtained by NBC News shows the boy and his friend swimming around the lazy river at a resort. They removed a metal grate on the floor. The boy was swimming down to explore the hole when his leg became stuck. His friend and several adults tried to get him out, but were unsuccessful.
