2nd time around...2nd time for new experiences!

Posted: Updated:

I remember experiencing a little nausea when I was pregnant with Victor.  I also remember feeling like I "had to go" all the time, especially in the beginning.  This time around, it's pretty much the same, but the nausea isn't just "here-and-there" like it was with my first pregnancy...it happens like clockwork in the middle of dinnertime every night.  I try to keep snacking throughout the day to make sure there's something in my tummy at all times, but it isn't working as well as I'd hoped.  The nausea is much more pronounced this time around, which people keep telling me means that I'm having a girl.  I don't buy into any of the superstitions about how you carry the baby or how much nausea you have pointing to what sex the baby will be.  I'm going to wait and see.

I had my first doctor appointment a couple weeks ago.  One of the doctors we had last time around has decided to stop delivering babies.  We'll keep one of the doctors we had last time, but will be meeting a new doctor very soon.  I have our first ultrasound tomorrow - since Victor decided to take his sweet time coming out, my doctor just wanted to make sure that we have the developmental age of the fetus just right before we make all of the date plans.  Our current estimated due date is May 20th - we'll see if that sticks tomorrow!

I've started re-reading the "Great Expectations" book I read during my first pregnancy - and explored the chapter in "What to Expect in the First Year" on siblings.  It'll still be a while until Victor understands that he's going to be sharing Mom and Dad with more than just the kitty...I'm actually very excited to help explain it all to him.  I'm also excited to see how he responds when new little one arrives.

Victor is still developing along - quickly, too.  I'm sure it's mere days until he starts talking - it was almost overnight that he started walking. He had a bit of a cold that of course, I feared would be H1N1.  We did take him in to see the doctor, who reassured us that it was just a respiratory bug.  It took about a week to clear up, but he just has a little residual cough now.  It's always so hard to see someone so small get sick.  I remember our first emergency room trip for a double ear-infection and a 105 fever...ugh.   I can't stand to see or feel babies get sick!  At least now, I've been through it once so I'll be better prepared for the second time around...

I hope!
