Rite Aid worker stops would be robber by whacking her with metal bar

SPOKANE, Wash. -   A would-be Oxycontin robber fled the Wandermere Rite-Aid Pharmacy a sore loser Monday night after she was both thwarted and thumped by an employee armed with a metal bar.

The Spokane County Office says employees at the business, located at 12315 N. Highway 395, reported a woman wearing a dark blue sweatshirt with the hood up entered the business about 8:35 p.m.  She handed an employee a note stating she had a gun and wanted the powerful pain medication Oxycontin.

A male employee picked up a metal bar and hit her with it.  The woman fled northbound from the business and was not located.  No vehicle was seen.

The employees described the suspect as a white female in her mid-20s, about five feet tall and wearing Converse-style sneakers.  They added that she either had on heavy makeup or had a Middle Eastern appearance.

No one inside the business was injured.  Anyone with information regarding the suspect is encouraged to call Crime Check at 456-2233

SPOKANE, Wash. - Initiative-1639 has been the root of controversy ever since supporters began asking for signatures. It became even more complicated when the Washington Supreme Court overturned a Thurston County judges decision after the judge initially threw out over 300,000 signatures saying the petition didn't follow election law claiming it was unreadable.
