BILLINGS, Mont. - A federal judge says gray wolf hunts in the Northern Rockies can go on, denying a request by environmentalists and animal welfare groups to stop the first organized wolf hunts in Idaho and Montana in decades. U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy said that plans to kill about 20 percent of the two states' estimated 1,350 wolves would not cause long-term harm to the population. LEWISTON, Idaho. - The first hunter to report a wolf kill in Idaho says he's been flooded with nasty messages since his name hit the national media Wednesday. Robert Millage says he's been called a wolf murderer, a fat redneck and other names in about 50 phone calls and hundreds of e-mails. Some suggested that his real estate business will suffer, though Millage suspects he's more likely to gain clients than lose many. Millage says he has thick skin but has alerted law enforcement.>>

BOISE, Idaho. - State wildlife officials say the first wolf hunting tag ever printed in the state has sold for $8,000 to the highest bidder.

The high bid came from North Carolina resident Jonny Morris, the founder of Bass Pro Shops. Morris bought Wolf Tag No. 1 last week in an auction sponsored by the Congressional Sportsmen Foundation.

Morris says he will give it to his son, who is planning to hunt in Idaho later this year.

The auction is one of six held by nonprofit groups around the nation to help raise money for wolf conservation. The special tags are good for bagging one wolf, but also commemorate the first public wolf hunt in Idaho history.

Tag No. 3 went for $1,700 at an event hosted by the Mule Deer Foundation, while tag No. 5 sold for just $350 at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation auction.

KHQ.COM - Most mothers can only hope by the time their children grow up and move out of the house, they've learned all the necessary things to be a successful adult, including the basic knowledge that a turkey must be cooked in an oven, or perhaps in a smoker... NOT in a microwave. For this reason a new prank-challenge going around on Facebook is resulting in some hilarious text conversations between mothers and their grown children.
