Deputies searching for suspects in attempted ATM theft

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane County Sheriff's Office is searching for two suspects after they attempted to steal an ATM from a Shell gas station in the in 9900 block of  N. Wall.

Deputies say the pair backed an SUV into the front doors of the station and once the glass doors shattered, they attached a chain to the ATM.

Using the SUV, the suspects tried twice to yank out the ATM, but were not successful.

Empty handed, the suspects unhooked the chain and left.

A passing driver saw the suspects leaving, noticed the damage to the Shell station and called authorities.

That driver described the suspect vehicle as an Infinity brand SUV with new 'Wendell at the Y' license plates.

Authorities are examining the surveillance video from the store. KHQ is working on obtaining a copy of that video.

Anyone with information is asked to 911 immediately.
