SPOKANE, Wash. - The Humane Society is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible for shooting a one-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix with a hunting arrow.

The dog, Lucy, was shot on October 16 near Fairview Drive and Overview Drive sometime between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Lucy's owner found her with an arrow through her shoulder and the animal underwent emergency surgery to remove the arrow.

This level of cruelty could result in a charge of animal cruelty in the first degree, a class C felony which carries a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison and $10,000 fine.

"Those who abuse animals can be dangerous to people," said Dan Paul, Washington State Director for The Humane Society of the United States. "Americans have no tolerance for violence against the creatures who share our world."

If you have any information about Lucy's shooting or anyone who uses razor-tipped arrows to shoot at house pets, SCRAPS would like to hear from you.

Anyone with information is asked to call SCRAPS Animal Protection Officer Nicole Montano at 477-2761.
