SPOKANE, Wash. - Members of the Spokane Police Honor Guard left Spokane Thursday morning to attend Seattle Police Officer Timothy Brenton's memorial service. Brenton, 39 and 33-year-old rookie officer Britt Sweeney were parked in downtown Seattle when their police cruiser was struck several times by gunfire shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday. Brenton died instantly. Sweeney ducked and a bullet grazed her back. She then called for help and returned fire.>>

SEATTLE, Wash. - Hundreds of police cars from departments around the Northwest paraded with lights flashing in a procession to the funeral for slain Seattle police Officer Timothy Brenton.

It took nearly two hours to complete a route through the city from the University of Washington to Seattle Center. At one point the procession traveled under an American flag hanging from an arch made from fire trucks' extended ladders.

A police honor guard, bagpipes and a mounted patrol also took part in ceremonies at KeyArena where the funeral was set for 1 p.m. Friday.

Meanwhile police continue to look for the killer who shot Brenton on Halloween night as he sat in a parked patrol car reviewing a traffic stop with rookie Officer Britt Sweeney who was wounded.
