    POST FALLS, Idaho. - A soldier from Post Falls, Idaho, is among those wounded in a mass shooting at Fort Hood in Texas. George Stratton III was shot in the shoulder during Thursday's attack.  His father, George Stratton, told reporters that he received a phone call from his 18-year-old son immediately after the shootings. He said his son is expected to recover. The younger Stratton was working at the Fort Hood readiness center.>>

A Spokane native was among those killed at Fort Hood, Texas, on Thursday, a family member confirmed today.

Michael Grant Cahill, 62, was a physician assistant who worked at the base as a contracted civilian, said his daughter, Keely Cahill Vanacker.

Cahill was among 13 killed in the shooting spree initially believed to be the result of a lone gunman.

Cahill's body was being transported to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for an autopsy, Vanacker said.

"My dad was a wonderful person," she said in a telephone interview.

Level 2 and 3 evacuations remain in place through the night into tomorrow morning. Red Cross has set up a shelter for evacuees at Bowdish Middle School in Spokane Valley.

    STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. - Washington State Patrols responded to a fatal crash in Stevens County Friday evening. On SR-395 in Clayton near Mile Post 185, a vehicle crossed the center line and crashed head on with another car, killing the driver. The causing driver who was transported to the hospital is in custody for vehicular homicide. There were no other occupants of either vehicle.

    REARDAN, Wash. -  A Spokane man died after crashing his motorcycle on Highway 2 near Reardan in a DUI incident Friday night. Gregory Sutton, 35 of Spokane, was traveling westbound on Highway 2 on his Honda motorcycle when he left the roadway and was ejected from the bike, landing in a ditch near Mile Post 262 in Lincoln County.
