A Spokane native was among those killed at Fort Hood, Texas, on Thursday, a family member confirmed today.

Michael Grant Cahill, 62, was a physician assistant who worked at the base as a contracted civilian, said his daughter, Keely Cahill Vanacker.

Cahill was among 13 killed in the shooting spree initially believed to be the result of a lone gunman.

Cahill's body was being transported to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for an autopsy, Vanacker said.

"My dad was a wonderful person," she said in a telephone interview.
