    SPOKANE, Wash. - Members of the Spokane Police Honor Guard left Spokane Thursday morning to attend Seattle Police Officer Timothy Brenton's memorial service. Brenton, 39 and 33-year-old rookie officer Britt Sweeney were parked in downtown Seattle when their police cruiser was struck several times by gunfire shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday. Brenton died instantly. Sweeney ducked and a bullet grazed her back. She then called for help and returned fire.>>

SEATTLE, Wash. - Police on Friday shot and wounded a person-of-interest sought in the Halloween night killing of aSeattle police officer, just as a massive memorial service for the officer drew to a close.

Tukwila police spokesman Mike Murphy says the shooting occurred as officers Seattle Police detectives pursued a tip at an apartment complex in the Seattle suburb.

Television footage showed dozens of cruisers surrounding the building, while some officers examined a car that, though covered by a tarp, resembled the profile of an old Datsun believed to have been seen nearby when the officer was killed.

Seattle police Officer Timothy Brenton was shot and killed as he sat in a car with an officer-trainee after a traffic stop on Oct. 31. Thousands of officers from around the country attended a memorial Friday for Brenton at KeyArena in Seattle.

She ran to her neighbor's house and the neighbor contacted the Pierce County Sheriff's Office at around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday. Arriving deputies spoke with the neighbor who called 911.

    BROWNESVILLE, Texas (AP) - A Texas man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for stealing $1.2 million worth of fajitas over nine years.    Fifty-three-year-old Gilberto Escamilla was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to theft by a public servant. The Brownsville Herald reports he told the court the fajita scheme spun out of control.
