Suspected child abuse caught on camera

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Police are asking for assistance in identifying a suspect in the assault of a child.  The alleged crime was caught on surveillance video at the Spokane Transit Authority Plaza.

On Wednesday, November 18th at approximately 7:30 am, at the STA Plaza, a female grabbed the child, who police believe to be about two years old, by his coat and kicked him to the ground.

Witnesses nearby gave the following description of the suspect to police:  possibly a light skinned, black or Native American female, wearing a brown coat with a fur collar, blue jeans, white shirt, a long chain with a black pendant and a black beanie.  She was pushing a large child's stroller, navy blue in color covered with a white blanket.  A second child was possibly in the stroller.  The assaulted child was wearing a blue, winter jumpsuit and a blue beanie.

Witnesses also believe she catches a bus in the valley near Indiana and Pines and transfers at the STA Plaza to a bus going to the north side.

Police say they have probable cause to arrest the female for Assault of a Child pending her identification.  This case is listed as a Crime Stoppers - Crime of the Week.  Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 509-327-5111, or 1-800-222-TIPS
