WASHINGTON. - One possible obstacle to Senate passage of health care reform has reached the Senate floor, in the form of an amendment dealing with abortion coverage.

It would prevent any private insurance company from offering plans to cover abortion if the company gets federal subsidies and that would apply to most plans within a proposed new insurance marketplace.

Two anti-abortion Democrats are among the sponsors. A vote is expected Tuesday.

Liberals say it goes beyond current law and they won't support it. The issue could threaten passage of the overall health care bill because Democrat Ben Nelson is threatening not to vote for the bill without the abortion language.

ST. MARIES, Idaho - In a windy, but quiet family-friendly neighborhood, it seems like everyone had a personal connection with a certain whitetail deer. “From the mailman, to the Avista guys to the contractors doing work on the homes and all the neighbors,” Mia Suchoski said. Mia Suchoski called the deer “Bucky” while her neighbors Donna and Doug Smeltzer called it “Baby.”
