SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga's Matt Bouldin says he believes he has a concussion. The senior guard hit his head while crashing into a player from Augustana during Wednesday night's win at the McCarthey Athletic Center. He'll be evaluated on Thursday to see if he can play Saturday in Seattle.

Bouldin was visibly shaken after the collision and had to leave the game in the first half. Even without their leading scorer, the Zags (7-2) won easily over their Division III opponent by a score of 79-40, setting up the Battle in Seattle against Davidson.

Playing an opponent from a lower division gave the Zags a chance to give some of the lesser-known Zags some playing time. Steven Gray led the team with 12 points. Bol Kong added 10. Twelve different players scored for Gonzaga.

While it was obvious after the loss to Wake Forest that the Zags needed to improve on rebounding the ball, Gonzaga coach Mark Few said he simply told his players this week to compete on every play.

"We wanted to establish that we could play hard as a team - like Augustana," said Few after the game. "Watching them on tape and just knowing Grey over the years, his team plays extremely hard. So we had a simple goal: just to play a little bit harder than they did."

"In practice this week [Coach Few] has been stressing playing harder than the guy across from you," added Gray. "I think a lot of us really took that to heart - just coming out in a game where we don't have the crowd we're used to and we had to bring our own energy in. That really helped us: just look at the guy across from you and 'on this play I'm gonna play harder than you'.

The Zags defense held Augustana to just 27 percent shooting from the field. They were 1-of-21 on 3-point attempts. Augustana also struggled from the free throw line, hitting just 5-of-13 attempts. Augustana had 20 turnovers.

The Zags will return to practice to make final adjustments before playing Davidson at KeyArena on Saturday in Seattle. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. The game can be seen live on KHQ and SWX, as well as on FSN outside the Spokane area.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Steven Gray scored 12 points as No. 21 Gonzaga beat Augustana of Illinois 79 - 40 Wednesday evening.  Bol Kong added 10 points and 12 different players scored for Gonzaga (7-2).

Tonight was the first ever meeting for the two schools.

Next up for the Zags is Davidson at the Battle in Seattle Saturday at 4pm.
