    SPOKANE, Wash. - Police are investigating a possible home invasion in the 2100 block of east 35th on Spokane's south hill. Police say they received a call from a homeowner saying someone tried to break into his house and he shot at them.

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Police said they were over run with calls starting on Friday night December 11th and into the early morning of Saturday December 12th.  On December 11th at 8:05 PM till December 12th at 4:43 AM, Spokane Police responded to 175 calls for service.  Spokane Police said their resources were constantly being depleted do to a large amount of violent crimes.  

Of the 175 calls handled Spokane Police responded to three robbery calls involving firearms, three shooting calls, six fight calls involving multiple suspects, some armed with weapons, and eight assault calls. 

Spokane Police also dealt with five collisions, some involving injuries and seven DUI arrests.   Spokane Police were also able to locate and arrest a suspect who committed two armed robberies during this busy time.

Changes in wind direction have brought over more smoke to the area from wildfires around northern and central Washington, as well as from British Columbia.

    SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - A male suspect has died after being involved in a police shooting following a standoff situation in Spokane Valley Sunday morning. Police say the matter originated as a vandalism call after a man pulled into a gas station and began breaking windows in a vehicle. They later found the male to be armed and possibly suicidal, leading to a standoff at Trent and Evergreen where he was barricaded in the vehicle.

    LEWISVILLE, Texas  - Police in Texas say a man fatally stabbed his 16-month-old son and was shot in the leg by a neighbor who tried to stop the attack. The stabbing was reported Sunday afternoon in the courtyard of an apartment complex in Lewisville, about 20 miles northwest of Dallas. Lewisville Police Capt. Jesse Hunter says the toddler was rushed to a hospital but later died from his wounds.
