Charges dismissed against alleged Idaho shooter

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho. - Prosecutors dismissed all charges against a 25-year-old northern Idaho man who police say shot two men outside a bar in Coeur d'Alene last month.

Adam M. Johnson had faced possible aggravated battery and attempted murder charges stemming from the Dec. 27 incident in which two Moses Lake, Wash., men were injured.

A Kootenai County grand jury Friday recommended against pursuing the case. Prosecutors still could refile charges, but didn't indicate they would do so.

Anne Taylor, Johnson's defense attorney, praised the decision. Friends and family of Johnson wept.

Johnson, who owns a local telecommunications company, was arrested after Bradley J. Phillips and Brandon R. Burgess, were wounded in the incident two days after Christmas.

Both are recovering from injuries that required hospitalization.
