Man found unconscious in road taken off life support

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho. - Coeur d'Alene police are investigating the death of a 25-year-old man who may have fallen or jumped out of a car in the early morning hours of January 17.

Just before 2:30 a.m. on January 17, Cd'A authorities received a call from a driver who spotted a man, since identified as Timothy Shackelford, lying unconscious in the road near 5th and Front Ave.

Medics were the first to arrive at the scene and reported that there were no signs of trauma to Shackelford's body, though he did smell like alcohol.

During the investigation, detectives spoke with some of Shackelford's friends who had been with him in their car just before the passer-by called to report his body in the road.

Shackelford's friends told detectives that he had possibly fallen or jumped from the car while it was moving, but they did not notice he was missing until a few minutes later. His friends said they looked for him and when they could not find him, they went home.

Shackelford was taken off of life support on January 23, three days after he was pronounced brain dead. The Kootenai County Coroners office told Cd'A police he had suffered a fractured skull.

Anyone with information is asked to call Coeur d'Alene Police at 208-769-2320.

SPOKANE, Wash. - From the outside, the Repeat Boutique looks like a lot of other thrift shops in Spokane.  Inside, some might describe the stuff for sale as old, used, discarded garbage -- but store manager CJ Curtis sees its potential. And just like the goods in her shop, CJ is on her way to a new life, one far from the one she once lived.

SPOKANE, Wash. - "He told me to pull over, and my jaw just dropped," a Spokane woman, who says a fake police officer tried to pull her over, doesn't want to be named. In fear, this could happen again. "It really scared me and kind of threw me off that night. I don't even want to drive by myself anymore," she said. She tells me that she was driving around North Spokane at night on her way home from work.
