Police looking for suspects passing around counterfeit bills

SPOKANE VALLEY, - Police are trying to identify a suspect after counterfeit $100 bills have been passed off to at least two area businesses.

At about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 3rd, police say a man entered the GTX Truck Stop at 18723 E. Cataldo and used a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase scratch lottery tickets.  He was described as a white male in his 50's who had a beard.

On the following Thursday, February 4th, a man reportedly entered the Shell convenience store at 13823 E. Broadway and used a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase $50 in scratch lotto tickets.  He was given $50 in change.

The employee in the second theft described the suspect as a white man in his 40's who was about 5'04" tall and balding.  He estimated his weight at about 165 pounds.

Officers who examined the counterfeit bills described them as looking very authentic.

Security video the second business captured the suspect's image.  Anyone with information regarding his identity is encouraged to call Crime Check at 456-2233.
