Woman gets car out of shop after 7 weeks
SPOKANE, Wash. - Nearly two months after dropping her car off for repair at a local shop, a Spokane woman can stop begging for rides.
Alexis Bowers took her car to Melkonyan Auto Repair on E. Trent to have blown tire fixed about seven weeks ago and that's when she encountered a world of problems.
The owner of the business told Bowers that in addition to the tire, the car would need other work done, work that he ultimately estimated would cost $1,500.
Bowers' situation would not improve over the next weeks as she returned to the business to find the gates locked and no word from the owner.
When contacted Wednesday, the owner told KHQ there were many reasons for the prolonged repair and why he could not be reached earlier: He had to order a part from California, he had to go to California after the death of an aunt and he got sick.
Earlier the owner claimed to have broken his wrist and was in the hospital, but Wednesday he denied that happening.
When Bowers finally picked up her car Wednesday evening, the owner did emphasize the car would need further repairs other than the tire, which he ended up fixing free of charge.
Bowers says she plans on taking the car to another shop to get a second opinion.
