Three teens in custody following South Hill stabbing

SPOKANE, Wash. - Three teens are in custody after a Tuesday night stabbing on Spokane's South Hill.

Police say the three suspects approached a group in Thornton Murphy Park and demanded they empty their pockets. Two of the four people ran from the suspects and that's when the suspects attacked a 21-year-old man who stayed behind.

Police say the man was stabbed multiple times before escaping to a nearby Senior Center where an off-duty nurse tended to his injuries.

Police were patrolling near the scene and when the call of the stabbing came in and officers and were able to respond quickly.

When they arrived on scene, police located two of the suspects and arrested them. One of the suspects is a 13-year-old, the other is 19-year-old Cody Kjos. Police also found the knife used in the stabbing.

The third suspect, a 15-year-old, fled the scene and was not arrested until sometime Wednesday.

The stabbing victim was taken to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
