CHENEY, Wash. - Four suspects arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting in Cheney over the weekend are expected to make their first court appearances Monday afternoon.

The shooting, early Sunday morning, happened outside of the El Rodeo restaurant in downtown Cheney.

The victim, who has since been identified as EWU student Sharanbir Grewal, was shot in the hand following a confrontation outside the restaurant. Grewal was said to be with a group of other EWU students who were walking from the downtown bars at the time of the shooting.

Officers who were patrolling the downtown area heard the gunshots and arrived on scene to find Grewal wounded.

Witnesses were able to give police a good description and officers arrested four suspects, ages  15, 16, 17 and 19-years-old. Officers also recovered a gun.

The four are from Spokane and not students at EWU.

Police will be testing the gun to determine if it was the weapon used in the shooting.

Grewal was taken to a Spokane hospital with what authorities described as a non life-threatening injury. He is listed in satisfactory condition.
