SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - A 24-year-old transient wanted in connection with a shooting in Spokane Valley late last month in which a bullet narrowly missed a 3-year-old has been put on the Crime Stoppers most wanted list.

Joseph Bledsaw is facing charges stemming from a February 27 shooting at an apartment in the 15000 block of E. Sprague.

Shortly after the shooting, police arrived on scene to find a group of people standing on the upper landing and two bullet casings on the ground below.

The man who called police said that he was confronted by a pair of men demanding to know why he called police about noise coming from an apartment next door.

One of the suspects, who has since been identified as Bledsaw, said he could "go crazy" at any moment and then started to draw what the man thought may be a gun from his waistband.

The man ran into his apartment and heard what he thought was a pistol slide being worked as he closed the door.

Moments later, shots were fired into the apartment wall. One of the bullets went into a bedroom where the complainant's 3-year-old was sleeping.

The bullet passed through the exterior wall about three feet off the floor, struck a metal bed post on the child's bed and fell to the blankets. The child's mother moved the blanket to check the child and the bullet fell to the floor.

Bledsaw and his acquaintance had fled the scene by the time officers arrived.

Police spoke with the neighbor of the man who called police and she admitted to telling Bledsaw that her neighbor, the man who called officers about the shooting, had made noise complaints about her to police.

Bledsaw is wanted on multiple assault, reckless endangerment and a firearms charge. He has a five-year criminal history in Spokane County which includes a single conviction for first-degree malicious mischief.

If you have any information on Bledsaw's whereabouts, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
