SPOKANE, Wash. - We're counting down until the Gonzaga women play Xavier in the Sweet 16 in Sacramento California! Of course KHQ and SWX will have extensive coverage throughout the  fight to the final!

Starting Friday Dave Cotton will be live in Sacramento. You can watch Dave's send off live on KHQ Local News Today tomorrow morning!

After knocking on the door of being recognized among the top programs in the country, Gonzaga kicked it in with its 72-71 upset of No. 2 seed Texas A&M in the NCAA tournament's second round on Monday night.

Just three years after making their first tournament trip, the Bulldogs are in the round of 16 on Saturday night. Seniors Vivian Frieson and Heather Bowman have been leading Gonzaga.

It was Frieson who stepped up with 23 points and the game-winning basket with 17 seconds left that sent the Bulldogs to Sacramento to play Xavier. The Zags ousted Xavier in the first round of last year's tournament, and the Musketeers are looking to avenge that loss.
