Car pinned under semi trailer, driver escapes serious injury

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Washington State Patrol dispatch says all lanes of eastbound I-90 have been reopened after a car was pinned under a semi trailer on eastbound I-90 , just east of Argonne.

The collision occurred at 2:18 p.m. Tuesday, fully blocking eastbound traffic for an hour and 30 minutes.  All eastbound lanes of I-90 were diverted off to Argonne until crews removed the car from underneath the semi trailer.

Police say 60-year-year old Martin Gross was driving his Peterbilt semi in the right eastbound lane, when he attempted to change lanes into the center lane.  49-year-old Kathleen Schoeder of Deer Park lost control of her car when she veered left to avoid being struck by the semi, spun out of control and came to rest wedged underneath the semi trailer in the center lane.

According to dispatch Schoeder suffered minor injuries and was transported from the scene by ambulance.

Gross was not injured in the crash, but was cited for making an improper lane change.

Spokane Valley Fire and Police are also responded to the crash in addition to WSP.
