Spokane Violent Crimes Gang Unit arrests wanted felon

SPOKANE, Wash.- Spokane Police Officers say they arrested a dangerous subject wanted on several outstanding arrest warrants, including one for a felony home invasion robbery that occurred in north Spokane last month. The suspect they arrested, 22 year-old Wesley Veazie, from Spokane, Washington.  

Veazie was pulled over during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon in the area of North Lincoln St. and West Boone Avenue. Police say during the traffic stop, Veazie attempted to run from the vehicle, but was quickly apprehended by K9 Bennie, who works with Officer Craig Hamilton.  

Veazie was taken into custody and arrested for three misdemeanors warrants and one felony warrant. He was treated for minor injuries, suffered during his apprehension by K9 Bennie. Police say another suspect involved in that home invasion was arrested in Las Vegas.  

The arrests stemmed from coordination between law enforcement agencies including the Spokane Police Department, The Spokane Violent Crime Gang Enforcement Team, and the U.S. Marshall's Service.  

Law enforcement ask that anyone with information regarding gang activity in the Spokane area can call 625-GANG (4264). They say callers can remain anonymous.

On SR-395 in Clayton near Mile Post 185, a vehicle crossed the center line and crashed head on with another car, killing the driver. The causing driver who was transported to the hospital is in custody for vehicular homicide. There were no other occupants of either vehicle.
