Traveling comedian arrested in Pullman for 3rd degree rape

PULLMAN, Wash. - A comedian with a traveling comedy troupe was arrested for 3rd degree rape and intimidating a witness after a 20 year-old woman accused him of having unconsensual sex with her in a car in Pullman.

The woman met up with the suspect, Clayton Thomas, at a Friday night event and left with him in a car.  That's where the woman says the assault occurred.  Thomas drove the woman back to the location of the event and her friends said she was incapacitated as if she was very drunk.

The alleged victim was taken to the hospital where a rape analysis was done and she was tested for any presence of a "date rape" drug in her system because her level of incapacitation was inconsistent with the amount of alcohol she says she had consumed.

Police say they are still investigating the case and waiting on toxicology results for a date rape drug.

Thomas was arrested and booked into the Whitman County Jail in Colfax.
