KHQ MD: 500 Calories Gone will help you lose weight

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Cardiologist Bryan Fuhs, M.D. says cutting 500 calories a day from your diet will mean weight loss of a pound a week.

That's what he tells patients with heart disease who are battling their weight. It's a straight forward approach that means different choices when you eat.

With the help of www.calorieking.com we tracked choices at certain fast food restaurants that would help you loose that 500 calories a day.

For breakfast we looked at McDonald's Big Breakfast at 800 calories, and if you swap it for 300 calorie Sausage Burrito. That's a savings of 500 calories.

For lunch at taco bell you can save 540 calories by having the Nacho Fresco at 230 calories instead of the Nacho Bell Grande at 770 calories.

Sweets at Baskin & Robbin's can be a calorie landslide. But if you eat a one scoop orange sherbert with 160 calories instead of a two scoop chocolate chip cookie dough with 620 calories, you'll save 460 calories. Well on your way to that 500 calories a day, gone!
