Mostly Cloudy Memorial Day Weekend in Washington State

SEATTLE (AP) - Forecasters expect periods of showers with mostly cloudy skies and a few sunbreaks in places across Washington for the Memorial Day weekend.

The National Weather Service says rain Friday in Western Washington could be heavy in places, but skies should be mostly sunny Sunday before more clouds and rain move in for Memorial Day.

Forecasters say low temperatures will be in the 40s and highs in the 60s in Western Washington.

In Eastern Washington, forecasters expect a chance of rain Friday and Saturday and a mostly cloudy Sunday and Memorial Day. Lows in the 40s and highs in the 70s.

The Northwest News Network reports the Washington State Department of Transportation on Monday celebrated the opening of a section of widened freeway there. The overcrossing is expected to reduce animal-vehicle collisions.
