SPOKANE, Wash. - Robert "Bud" Cooney flew 99 missions over France and Germany in World War II in a B-17 as its tailgunner and later, pilot. Bud Cooney was only 17 when he went to war to defend the ideals of America, a boy doing a man's work.
A boy risking his life. Bud's daughter, Sandra Miller, is so very proud of what her father did for the generations of Americans that followed that she helped him prepare for his Honor Flight back to Washington DC to see the World War II Memorial.
