10 Year-Old Boy Fighting For His Life in Spokane Hospital After Being Shot

ROYAL CITY, Wash. - Emergency dispatch received a frantic call from Alice Sanchez who advised her mobile home had just been shot up in the 8000 block of Road 10.5 SW 3-miles northwest of Royal City, Washington.

Ms. Sanchez advised that gun shots were fired at her mobile home.  One of the rounds struck her 10-year boy in the head while he was asleep in his bed in a bedroom at the end of her mobile home near the traveled portion of the roadway where their mobile home is located.

Grant County deputies and a Royal City police officer responded to the location and secured the scene for major crimes detectives. The Suspects were gone on arrival of the officers, some of whom had to respond from as far as Crescent Bar 45-miles away, where a drunken crowd of Memorial Day weekend party goers became disorderly, entering into a near riot of fighting, after the local bar closed for the night.

The 10-year old male juvenile was stabilized at the scene by Grant County Fire District 5 and 10 EMT's.  MedStar flight ambulance arrived on scene from the Tri-Cities and transported the 10-year old initially to Yakima Regional Hospital and then later life flown to a Spokane hospital.  Major crimes detectives worked the scene for evidence including the computer aided assistance of the Total Station mapping system.
