Memorial Day Services and Closures

SPOKANE, Wash.- There are a number of services going on today throughout the area.

  • In Spokane at 11:00 a.m., there will be a presentation and speech at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery.
  • In Liberty Lake from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. the rotary club is hosting a Memorial Day Breakfast, donating all proceeds to honor flight.
  • The post falls American Legion has a ceremony planned at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.
  • In Kootenai County, the VFW will host ceremonies and wreath-layings in Coeur d'Alene—in Veterans Park at 9:00 a.m., at St. Thomas Cemetery on Sherman Avenue at 10:00 a.m., and at Forest Cemetery on Government Way at 11:00 a.m.

Closures:

  • Most banks and Credit Unions are going to be closed.
  • Most government offices are closed (City Hall/Courthouse.)
  • All post offices are closed and there won't be any home mail delivery.
  • All schools and public libraries are closed.
  • Garbage and recycling pickup will be a day late all week.
  • You do not need to plug the parking meters.

    SANDPOINT, Idaho. First -  it was a robocall, now a threat, targetting a Sandpoint newspaper and one of its writers, has surfaced on YouTube. "Ben Olson is a cancer on wholesome North Idaho," the video states. "And cancers must be burned out." The 56-second video clip shows a picture of Co-owner and Publisher of the Sandpoint Reader, Ben Olson, next to a stack of the newspaper he writes for. The papers are doused in a clear liquid then lit on fire.
