Facebook & Twitter Cause Eastern Washington Party Mayhem
MANSON, Wash. (AP) - Chelan County law enforcement got a crash course in the power of social media over the holiday weekend.
A party in Manson ballooned from 100 to 500 people in less than an hour thanks to publicity on Facebook and Twitter. The influx of partygoers temporarily overwhelmed security people at the Wapato Point resort on Saturday night and law enforcement was called in.
Sgt. Rob Huddleston with the Chelan County Sheriff's Office says deputies investigated an assault, then dealt with some malicious mischief, followed by a car accident and two other assaults. And it all happened in about 10 minutes.
Huddleston says this was the first time he was aware social networking had such an impact on a party in the area.
