SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Police Officer Karl Thompson is accused of using Unreasonable Use of Force in the death of Otto Zehm on March 18th, 2006. Last week attorneys representing Thompson and the U.S. government appeared in federal court to listen to Judge Frederick Van Sickle rule on pretrial motions in this case.

The judge laid out his rulings on expert testimony and evidence that he will allow to be heard by jurors in the trial, including Otto Zehm's mental health history, professional standards and practices for police officers, and testimony concerning the condition called excited delirium.

Jury selection in the case begins June 7th and the trial is set to begin June 8th.
