One Arrested in East Spokane Shooting; Victim in Critical Condition

SPOKANE, Wash. - One man is under arrest and another is in critical condition after a shooting in a Spokane Neighborhood. Police arrested 36-year-old Andrew T. Burns and charged him with First Degree Assault. The as yet unidentified victim underwent surgery Thursday night at Sacred Heart Medical Condition. At last check Spokane Police said he was in critical condition.

Spokane Police responded to a shooting on the corner of Madelia and Mallon just after 8:00 p.m. Thursday night. Police say it started with an argument between several individuals.

When police arrived they found the victim on the ground with a gunshot wound below his hip. They quickly moved him to a safe location and began administering life saving procedures until medics arrived. He was later transported to a local hospital.

Police have detained several people for questioning, but are unsure if they have the person responsible for the shooting. No one is arrested or in custody as of midnight but police have found a weapon. They continue to search the area for evidence, witnesses and persons of interest.
