KHQ.Com Exclusive: Deputy Charged with Assault on Inmate

SPOKANE, Wash. -  A Spokane County Corrections Deputy is charged with fourth degree assault for allegedly grabbing the throat of inmate Daniel W. Clinger on November 4th, 2008. KHQ Reporter Bill McGinty broke this story with the video from a jail camera showing the confrontation between Deputy Green and Mr. Clinger.

The complaint, filed in Spokane District Court, alleges that Deputy Green inserted himself in a situation in the booking area of the jail that didn't concern him. The situation escalated to the point it got physical.  Deputy Pukitas Can, a corrections deputy who witnessed the incident,  said
"Deputy Green was egging Clinger on and Clinger was getting more volatile."  Deputy Can also testified that Deputy Green "shoved a hand good and hard into Clinger's throat."

All eight pages of the complaint against Deputy Green can be found here on this page as well as exclusive KHQ video of the incident.
