Former Idaho Teacher Pleads Guilty to Sex With Student
BURLEY, Idaho (AP) - A suspended Burley High School teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student has reached a plea agreement.
Chad Burnett pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of sexual battery against a minor child and violating a no-contact order.
Fifth District Judge Michael Crabtree has not scheduled a sentencing date.
During a March hearing on whether the 28-year-old Burnett should face trial for intimidation and violating the no-contact order, the 17-year-old girl testified that Burnett contacted her via Facebook and asked her to write letters to the prosecutor and judge on his behalf.
Defense attorney Keith Roark argued then that Burnett's discussion of wedding plans wasn't an attempt to intimidate, but a continuation of plans they had made last summer and fall.
