Board Approves Kibbie Dome Seating Project
BOISE, Idaho (AP) - The state Board of Education has signed off on a University of Idaho plan to spend nearly $7 million to upgrade seating at the home of Vandal football and basketball.
The board approved a plan that allows the university to move forward with construction of a new press box, a club and seating as well as suite-style boxes at the Kibbie Dome.
University officials say they have raised $6.8 million in cash and pledges to pay for the $6.7 million project.
Athletic Director Rob Spear says the new seating upgrades will help boost revenue and the appeal of the indoor facility.
The suite-style boxes are targeted for the south concourse, while the new media box will be built along the north concourse.
