UPDATE: Wildfire in Moses Lake
MOSES LAKE, Wash. - Fire Crews in Grant County tell KHQ that the wildfire near McConihe flats is now contained and crews are in "mop up" phase looking for hot spots. Grant County officials tell KHQ that 3 structures have been destroyed and 2 more damaged. At this time it is not known what the cause of the fire was, but an investigator is on scene.
MOSES LAKE -- Firefighters in the Moses Lake area are battling a wind-driven wildfire three miles northwest of Moses Lake in the McConihe Flats area off of Neppel Road. There will be more information forthcoming. For now, please ask all citizens to evacuate if they are asked. Areas affected by the evacuation include all areas north and west of Road D.5 NW and Road 7.8 NW.
Citizens are urged to cooperate with firefighters and law enforcement officers. Citizens are also urged to NOT CALL 911 unless they are reporting an emergency.
