More Than Two Dozen Wells Fargo Financial Centers Closing in Washington

SPOKANE, Wash.- Wells Fargo & Co. said it will shut down its 638 Wells Fargo Financial stores in the U.S., including 25 in Washington state and several here in Spokane County.

The San Francisco bank said 2,800 jobs will be cut nationally within two months and 1,000 more will be cut in a year. It was unknown how many jobs will be lost in Washington state.

The financial services company acquired Wachovia two years ago and said it now has 6,600 Wells Fargo and Wachovia bank stores in the U.S. and 2,200 Wells Fargo Home Mortgage locations, which, according to them, eliminates the need for a separate network of Wells Fargo Financial local offices.
