Fire Alert: Fire Danger Rating Increases; What You Need To Know
OLYMPIA, Wash. - The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR), in cooperation with local fire departments and districts, announced today that fire danger ratings have increased in northeast Washington.
Effective 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2010, the following changes will be implemented:
In Ferry and Pend Oreille counties, and Stevens County outside of Fire Districts 1 & 2, the fire danger rating will increase to ‘moderate.'
In Spokane, Lincoln, and Okanogan counties, and Fire Districts 1 & 2 in Stevens County, the fire danger rating will increase to ‘high.'
A statewide burn ban is in effect on all DNR-protected lands July 15, 2010, through September 30, 2010. This means all forestlands in Washington except for federal lands.
