OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: A man armed with a dark-colored semi-automatic pistol robbed the Albertsons pharmacy at 57th and Regal shortly after 9 a.m. Friday and escaped with a quantity of the potent pain medication Oxycontin.
Employees said the man pulled the pistol from his waistband as he walked from the dairy section of the store to the pharmacy. Once there, he brandished it at employees while demanding the drug.
Afterwards, he ran westbound across the front of the grocery and then south along the east side of Regal.
About a half-block down the street, he was picked up by a smaller white vehicle, witnesses said. They were unable to see the driver.
The suspect was described as a white male in his late 20's or early 30's, six feet tall or slightly taller with bright blue eyes.
He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and a piece of dark fabric or some other type of mask across his lower face. His jeans were baggy and blue.
