COEUR D' ALENE, Idaho - A Coeur d'Alene police officer walked away from a car wreck with only small abrasions to his arm after running into a concrete barrier on the Interstate 90. The officer crashed his patrol car avoiding a head-on collision with a drunk driver.

Early Monday morning, Officer J. Noble was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 with his emergency lights on responding to a call when another vehicle appeared in the same lane headed his direction. Noble swerved to avoid the vehicle and ran into the barrier.

Officer Noble was able to call out that he was involved in a crash and reported the wrong-way driver. The suspect finally crashed into a guard-rail near Atlas Road.

Police arrested 43-year-old Jodi L. Warner of Post falls for excessive DUI and leaving the scene of a crash. Police say the woman driver was more than double the legal limit for alcohol.

Police Chief Wayne Longo says the car is likely totaled.
