UPDATE:Police Find Four Bodies in Trash-Filled Apartment

RIVERDALE, Md. - Police say they have charged two people with murder in the slayings of two women and two children found in a trash-filled apartment in the Washington area. Police in Prince George's County, Md., also say they believe the suspects were linked to the adult victims through the sale of marijuana.

A press release identified the victims Saturday morning as 38-year-old Dawn Yvette Brooks; her two children, 3-year-old Shayla Shante Sikyala and 4-year-old Shakur Sylvester Sikyala; and the children's aunt, 41-year-old Mwasiti Sikyala. All four were from Lanham.

The two charged were identified as 43-year-old Darrell Lynn Bellard and 18-year-old Tkeisha Nicole Gilmer. It was unclear Saturday whether either had an attorney.

RIVERDALE, Md. - Police in suburban Washington, D.C., are interviewing "a person or persons of interest" in the shooting deaths of four people. The bodies of two women and two children were found Friday in a trash-filled, makeshift apartment above a detached garage at a home in Riverdale, Md.

Authorities believe whoever is responsible for the deaths may have known the victims. Police Chief Roberto Hylton says the adult victims were in their late 30s and one may have been the mother of the slain 3-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy. Police say some victims are natives of the Congo.

Hylton says people seemed to be living in the space above the garage, but noted it had no running water or toilet facilities. A county health officer calls the living conditions deplorable and unsanitary and compares it to a "junkyard."

    SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash.- Spokane Valley firefighters are working to put out a fire at an apartment building on 6th Avenue. 

    Firefighters brought in extra resources because they were worried the fire could spread to nearby brush but they have been fighting it for about an hour. They tell KHQ that they have managed to keep it contained to one building, although there are multiple units inside.

Police say the matter originated as a vandalism call after a man pulled into a gas station and began breaking windows in a vehicle. They later found the male to be armed and possibly suicidal, leading to a standoff at Trent and Evergreen where he was barricaded in the vehicle.
