UPDATE: Plea Hearing Postponed In Murder For Hire Case
COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho (AP) - A federal judge has postponed a change of plea hearing in the case of an FBI informant charged in a murder-for-hire plot.
Larry Fairfax of Sagle was scheduled to plead guilty Tuesday to possession of an unregistered firearm and making a firearm in violation of the National Firearms Act.
He was charged after reporting to the FBI that he'd been talking with attorney Edgar Steele of Sandpoint about a plan to kill Steele's wife and mother-in-law.
U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill postponed Fairfax's hearing until Thursday when Fairfax refused to acknowledge that the pipe bomb he says he placed under Cyndi Steele's car could have exploded.
Edgar Steele's trial is scheduled to begin in November.
