Call it a new beginning for Whitworth. Ready to put last week's loss behind them, the Pirates kick off conference play Saturday against visiting Lewis & Clark.  And it's homecoming. And the game is live on SWX-TV.

The Bucs are coming off a tough 23-7 loss at Redlands last week - a game in which they struggled in every aspect of the game. They had just 203 yards of total offense and converted 3-of-14 third down attempts. The special teams allowed a blocked punt and a long kickoff return that both

resulted in Redlands touchdowns. The Pirates' defense showed moments of brilliance, but after pinning Redlands at their own 2-yard line, they allowed them to go 98 yards in nine plays for the first touchdown of the game.

Adam Anderson, back for another season after getting an extra year of eligibility from the NCAA, led the team in rushing and receiving.

Saturday's game against Lewis & Clark kicks off at 1 p.m. on SWX, with John Fritz and Mike Peterson calling the action.
