The Search Continues For A Missing Idaho Hiker

RIGGINS, Idaho - Search crews continue to look for missing hiker Todd Hofflander in the Hells Canyon area.

His wife continues to remain optimistic he will be found. Julie Hofflander says her husband is an experienced outdoorsman and will find anything necessary to stay alive as long as he hasn't fallen down or injured himself.

Hofflander has been missing since September 27th when he was last seen on a hiking trip with a friend in the Seven Devils area of Hells Canyon. The two men split up during the hike and Hofflander never returned to camp.

"Everybody around here says that it's really easy to get turned around up here," said Julie Hofflander, wife of missing hiker.

Search crews have been covering the vast area for the last week but haven't found a single trace.

"Everyone thinks that even if he had fallen, the dog would have been seen by now," said Hofflander

The family dog was with Todd during the hike. She's a 3-year-old black lab named Ruby and was carrying a red doggy backpack.

"I want them to find the dog to have a clue, but then again I don't because I want the dog to be with him.

Hofflander was last seen wearing a green T-shirt, blue baseball cap and a camo backpack.

If you have any information you are asked to call the Idaho County Sheriff's Office at (208) 983-1100.
