NEW INFORMATION: Not Guilty Plea In Wenatchee Teen Slaying
WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) - The man accused of killing his Wenatchee beauty school classmate pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a second-degree murder charge in Chelan County Superior Court.
The Wenatchee World reports Prosecutor Gary Riesen filed an enhancement to the murder charge that could give 29-year-old Christopher Scott Wilson a life sentence if he is convicted. Trial is set for March 8 in Wenatchee.
Wilson is accused of killing 17-year-old Mackenzie Cowell in February after she left the Academy of Hair Design. Her body was found Feb. 13 along the Columbia River at Crescent Bar. She had been strangled, struck in the head and stabbed in the neck.
On Monday, investigators said the crime lab determined blood found at Wilson's apartment matched Cowell.
