Red Cross To Close Fire Relief Shelter Today

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Inland Northwest Chapter of the American Red Cross is planning to close the shelter that was opened for victims of the Houston House apartment complex fire at 5:00pm Tuesday.

Red Cross Spokeswoman Megan Snow said that since there haven't been any new residents to come to the shelter over the past two days and the four residents who stayed in the shelter Monday night have made long-term housing arrangements, the Red Cross has determined that there is no need to keep the shelter open.

Snow added that if there are any residents who still need assistance with housing and/or replacement of lost food, clothing, and medical items, they are encouraged to call the Red Cross office at 509-326-3330 at any time.
